Men's Health Care in Carrollton, TX

12 Services ( View All )

Overview

Our board-certified medical physicians and certified physician assistants provide top-notch male health care at Family Medicine Associates of Texas, in Carrollton. Our family practice understands that men have different health needs and concerns from women. Therefore, we provide specific services that are unique to male patients. Typically, male patients are less likely to undergo preventative care then women. Ignoring a symptom or believing it will go away on its own is not a healthy practice. A medical concern should not be compartmentalized to the "it's no big deal" category. Through yearly check-ups and routine screenings, our practice can provide you with medical data of your current health. This will help you to understand your level of wellness and areas that may require more attention or care. Our practice is here to serve you.

Services

We care for the health needs and concerns of men from adolescence to adulthood. However, we recognize as men get older, their bodies begin to change. Undergoing wellness screenings, erectile dysfunction exams, and testosterone therapy assessments are essential to keeping you healthy and vigorous. Our family medical practice is proud to offer the following services for our male patients:

Prostate Cancer Screening

Prostate cancer is cancer of the prostate, which is a small male reproductive gland that produces and transports semen. A PSA test measures the levels of prostate-specific antigen in the prostate, which is a protein produced specifically by this gland. If the levels are abnormal, then it is an indication of prostate cancer. However, this screening may be done in conjunction with other testing as well to accurately confirm a diagnosis.

Erectile Dysfunction

Erectile dysfunction is when a male cannot obtain, or hold an erection that is firm enough for sexual intercourse. This condition is very common in men over the age of 60. The cause of this condition is usually due to old age, however, other physical or emotional conditions can contribute as well. Once your doctor has performed a thorough examination, treatment options will be presented.

Testosterone Therapy

Just as women go through a transitional period of menopause, men go through andropause. This is the decline of testosterone levels and sex drive in men. However, thanks to modern medicine, testosterone therapy is a treatment that can boost testosterone levels. This treatment can improve low libido, erectile dysfunction, and build muscle mass as well.
